The Indigenous Education Foundation (IEF) embraces the celebration of the traditional owners of our land and encourages all Australians to celebrate the history, culture and achievements of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples. All Australians should be proud to live in the country with the world’s oldest continuous living cultures. As a society we have come a long way, but we need to do more to create a society that is just, equitable and inclusive for all Australians. There are many pathways to this goal, but IEF believes that education is not only a fundamental right, but the crucial element to ensure that the fabric of Indigenous culture is preserved, enhanced and thrives. Extending the impact of educational equity among Australia’s Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities is a crucial starting point to expanding the horizons of Australia’s future and removing the confines of the impossible.

It connects the wealth of skill, knowledge and innovation across generations and instills pride. This NAIDOC week, 2019, United Nations International Year of Indigenous Languages, we recognise the voice of First Australians, Torres Strait Islanders and Indigenous peoples across the globe.”
